Applications
For non-alloy joint and build-up welding (cast iron cold welding) of cast iron with lamellar or spheroidal graphite, malleable cast iron and for joining cast iron with steels.
Typical applications are
Large fittings, machine tool slides, bearing points, slide rails, gear wheels, turbine blades
and housings, crankshaft housings and slide valve seats.
Processing instructions
Remove cracked and otherwise damaged material as well as the casting skin. Clean welding areas. Generally weld without preheating. Use line bead technique with low line energy.
Weld workpieces subject to shrinkage, especially those made of laminar cast iron, with short beads (1-3 cm long). Immediately after welding, hammer off the weld beads when red hot.
