Wire feeder XM

Suitable for XuperMIG 4004 and 5004

Wide range of applications XuperMIG is suitable for sheet metal processing, steel construction, repair and maintenance. XuperMIG processes all types of wire: Solid wires (alloyed steel, unalloyed steel and stainless steel), aluminum alloys, cored wires for joining and coating in a wide range of diameters and for all applications and positions.

A wire feeder is a basic component used in welding, brazing and coating processes where a filler wire is used. It is used for the continuous and controlled feeding of the filler wire to the welding or soldering torch or welding gun. Below you will find an overview of the role of a wire feeder in welding, brazing and coating:

Filler wire feed: In welding, brazing and coating, a consumable filler wire is often used to join or coat the workpieces. The wire feeder is responsible for feeding the filler wire smoothly and evenly to the torch or gun. It ensures a continuous supply of wire so that the operator can maintain a stable arc or flame and achieve a uniform deposition or coating.

Speed and feed control: Wire feeders provide the ability to control the speed and feed rate of the filler wire. This control is critical to achieving the desired welding or brazing parameters and maintaining a consistent weld or brazing bead size. The operator can adjust the wire feed speed depending on factors such as welding current, wire diameter, joint configuration and welding technique.

Wire tensioning and straightening: Wire feeders are equipped with mechanisms that provide proper tension and straightening of the filler wire. The tension ensures that the wire is pulled through the system without slack or excessive resistance, which promotes smooth wire feeding. Straightening mechanisms, such as wire straighteners or rollers, help to eliminate twists or bends in the wire and ensure a straight and even feed.

Wire size and compatibility: Wire feeders are designed for different cored wire sizes and types, e.g. solid wires or flux cored wires. They are often adjustable or interchangeable to accommodate different wire diameters and spool sizes. This versatility allows the operator to use different flux-cored wire configurations depending on the welding, brazing or coating application.

Wire drive mechanism: Wire feeders use a drive mechanism to pull the filler wire from the spool and feed it through the torch or gun. The drive mechanism can use various methods, such as feed rolls or drive rollers, to grip and advance the wire. The design and quality of the drive mechanism has a direct impact on the reliability and consistency of the wire feed process.

Integration into welding and soldering systems: Wire feeders are typically integrated into welding and brazing systems, either as stand-alone units or as part of a welding or brazing power source. They can be connected to welding machines, torches or guns using suitable cables and connectors. This integration enables synchronized control and operation of the wire feeder and other components of the welding or brazing system.
